The world of modern steel construction moves quickly to increasingly wider buildings and more sophisticated shapes. In addition, noted purchase prices of materials and their regular rise lead many of our customers to try minimizing tonnages used.

Therefore, it becomes normal to note the increasingly frequent use of Welded Sections.

Consequently, new demands in terms of machining have appeared… In particular, adapting our drilling and sawing machines to these new sections became an absolute priority, all the more that the behaviours of these sections during machining phases are very different from those that have been known for years. It is one of the French manufacturer’s main themes regarding Research & Development.

The HD capacities were increased up to 2000 mm wide, combined with working lengths being able to exceed 30 m, bringing a rise of the bar’s total mass (more than 10 tons). The machine vices become multiple to maintain and drill variable inertias. The gripper is also modified to allow  bars in thicknesses greater  than 50 mm.

Software capacities have also  has been increased, in particular with new developments introduced on the market and allowing the management of variable inertia welded sections and management of  variable flanges thicknesses.
